The US Mint unveils their new 2009 Lincoln bicentennial pennies. There are 4 new designs for the reverse side of the new penny. Each design is about a specific part of Abraham Lincoln's life. The first is childhood in Kentucky, then his formative years in Indiana, his professional life in Illinois, and lastly his Presidency in Washington D.C.

The pennies celebrate the bicentennial celebration of Lincoln's birthday, and the 100th anniversary of the production of the cent penny.

I have not but will be sure to keep some when i get my hand on some of those..those might be worth something some day...or maybe not but they are very unique.

I think its a nice change for the penny!!!!!

I don't know why we are still minting pennies!!!
We should eliminate them, make the nickel the smallest coin, and make a one dollar coin a more standard coin in circulation and that alone would stimulate spending.

I'm not really sure why we need to change the penny! We hardly ever use them. What was the cost? Were they not thinking at one point of eliminating the penny all together? Now its getting an overhaul? I don't get it!

I'm glad the penny is still around. There is a local department store that has horses for the kiddies (electric ones) and it costs a penny to ride. Every time I am in that store, I pile a few pennies on the horses so the kids can get a free ride. Hey, where else can you get a big smile for a penny? Sad thing is I have seen adults steal the pennies after I leave them for the kids. Some people would ruin anything.

I never look at pennys, they are such a nuisance I often leave them on the counter for the next person to pick up if they need one.

Pennies arent even worth anything anymore in this economy. Why waste the print. I see in god we trust, hope it stays. well on other money anyway, pennies arent worth anything anymore
