Obama Needs to Answer This: Tax Cut or Job Loss?

raves +14 -1 by Voice in Florida
This letter I received in an email is very plausible...there is truth in all jest, the saying goes....

To All My Valued Employees,

There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of

this company, and more specifically, your job. As you know, the

economy has changed for the worse and presents many challenges.

However, the good news is this: The economy doesn't pose a threat to

your job. What does threaten your job however, is the changing

political landscape in this country.

Of course, as your employer, I am forbidden to tell you whom to vote

for - it is against the law to discriminate based on political

affiliation, race, creed, religion, etc. Please vote who you think

will serve your interests the best.

However, let me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help

you decide what is in your best interests.

First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts employers against

employees, you have to understand that for every business owner there

is a back story. This back story is often neglected and overshadowed

by what you see and hear. Sure, you see me park my Mercedes outside.

You've seen my big home at last years Christmas party. I'm sure that

all these flashy icons of luxury conjure up some idealized thoughts

about my life.

However, what you don't see is the back story.

I started this company 12 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 300

square foot studio apartment for 3 years. My entire living apartment

was converted into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into

building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you.

My diet consisted of Ramen Noodles because every dollar I spent

went back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a

defective transmission. I didn't have time to date. Often times, I

stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and

partying. In fact, I was married to my business -- hard work,

discipline, and sacrifice.

Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a

modest $50K a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy

cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes.

Instead of hitting the Nordstrom's for the latest hot fashion item, I

was trolling through the Goodwill store extracting any clothing item

that didn't look like it was birthed in the 70's. My friends

refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did

not. I put my time, my money, and my life into a business with a

vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford these

luxuries my friends supposedly had.

So, while you physically arrive at the office at 9am, mentally check

in at about noon, and then leave at 5pm, I don't. There is no 'off'

button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a

weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have the freedom. I

eat, shit, and breathe this company every minute of the day. There is

no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this

business is attached to my hip like a 1 year old special-needs child.

You, of course, only see the fruits of that garden -- the nice house,

the Mercedes, the vacations... you never realize the back story and

the sacrifices I've made.

Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the

right decisions and saved his money, have to bail-out all the people

who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel

entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed a decade of

my life for.

Yes, business ownership has is benefits but the price I've paid is

steep and without wounds.

Unfortunately, the cost of running this business, and employing you,

is starting to eclipse the threshold of marginal benefit and let me

tell you why:

I am being taxed to death and the government thinks I don't pay

enough. I have state taxes. Federal taxes. Property taxes. Sales and

use taxes. Payroll taxes. Workers compensation taxes. Unemployment

taxes. Taxes on taxes. I have to hire a tax man to manage all these

taxes and then guess what? I have to pay taxes for employing him.

Government mandates and regulations and all the accounting that goes

with it, now occupy most of my time. On Oct 15th, I wrote a check to

the US Treasury for $288,000 for quarterly taxes. You know what my

'stimulus' check was? Zero. Nada. Zilch.

**The question I have is this: Who is stimulating the economy? Me, the

guy who has provided 14 people good paying jobs and serves over

2,200,000 people per year with a flourishing business? Or, the single

mother sitting at home pregnant with her fourth child waiting for her

next welfare check? Obviously, government feels the latter is the

economic stimulus of this country.**

The fact is, if I deducted (Read: Stole) 50% of your paycheck you'd

quit and you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? That's nuts.

Who wants to get rewarded only 50% of their hard work? Well, I agree

which is why your job is in jeopardy.

Here is what many of you don't understand ... **to stimulate the

economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy**. Had suddenly

government mandated to me that I didn't need to pay taxes, guess what?

Instead of depositing that $288,000 into the Washington black-hole, I

would have spent it, hired more employees, and generated substantial

economic growth. My employees would have enjoyed the wealth of that

tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But you can

forget it now.

When you have a comatose man on the verge of death, you don't

defibrillate and shock his thumb thinking that will bring him back to

life, do you? Or, do you defibrillate his heart? Business is at the

heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must

stimulate it, not kill it. Suddenly, the power brokers in Washington

believe the mud of America are the essential drivers of the American

economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is

the type of change you can keep.

So where am I going with all this?

It's quite simple.

If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, my reaction will be

swift and simple. I fire you. I fire your co-workers. You can then

plead with the government to pay for your mortgage, your SUV, and your

child's future. Frankly, it isn't my problem any more.

Then, I will close this company down, move to another country, and

retire. You see, I'm done. I'm done with a country that penalizes the

productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to

provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, will be my citizenship.

While tax cuts to 95% of America sounds great on paper, don't forget

the back story: If there is no job, there is no income to tax. A tax

cut on zero dollars is still zero.

So, when you make decision to vote, ask yourself, who understands the

economics of business ownership and who doesn't? Whose policies will

endanger your job?

Answer those questions and you should know who might be the one

capable of saving your job. While the media wants to tell you 'It's

the economy stupid', I'm telling you it isn't.

If you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the economy, it will

be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this

country, steamrolled the constitution, and will have changed its

landscape forever. If that happens, you can find me in South Caribbean,

sitting on a beach, retired, and with no employees to worry about.

Signed,
Your boss

Associating with Hatred

raves +3   by Voice in Florida
Hate-filled rhetoric spews from this man Farrakhan, who endorsed Obama and agrees with Rev. Wright, Obama's mentor.

(an excerpt from the anti-Defamation League) :

For nearly 30 years, Louis Farrakhan has marked himself a notable figure on the extremist scene by making hateful statements targeting Jews, whites and homosexuals.

Farrakhan’s bigoted and anti-Semitic rhetoric has included statements calling whites “blue eyed devils” and Jews “bloodsuckers” that controlled the slave trade, the government, the media and various Black individuals and organizations. In 2006, he blamed Jews and Israel for the war in Iraq, for controlling Hollywood and for promoting what he considers immorality during his February Saviours' Day address in Chicago.

White people are potential humans…they haven’t evolved yet." Philadelphia Inquirer, 3/18/00

According to a journalist's account, "Farrakhan called 'the white man' the 'anti-Christ' to rousing applause." Jackson, MS, 9/19/97, Clarion-Ledger, 9/21/97

“If the international community would deal fairly, they could prevent a war that is triggered by an unprovoked attack on Iran. However, the Zionists have worked their way into control in America, Britain, France, Germany and other countries of the world.”
“Year-end Interview” with the Final Call, January 6, 2008

“FEMA is too White to represent us and so is the Red Cross.”
Power Center, Houston, Texas, 9/11/05

What is going on in the world is a battle between “theocracy” and “democracy.” “Theo” and “cratis” are Greek words. “Cratis” in Greek means “rule.” In Latin, it’s “craci.” In English, you change the “i” to a “y”—“cracy” (rule). “Theo” in Greek means “god.” The Greek word is “demos”—demos cratis. In Latin, it’s demon craci. In English, you drop the “n,” put a “y” on the end, and you have democracy. “Democracy” is “the rule of the people,” but what kind of people? It’s the very opposite of theocracy. It’s the rule of a devil…. The enemy is plotting, through democracy, to make the whole world submit to so-called democratic values, so that the demons of the West can rule all the darker peoples of the world under “demo cracy.” 12th Annual Pre-Kwanzaa Festival held by Cops Against Police Brutality,
Newark, New Jersey, 12/11/04

"I hasten to tell you that the precious lives that were lost in the World Trade Center was a cover, a cover for a war that had been planned to bring a pipeline through Afghanistan to bring oil from that region, oil owned by Unical of which Dick Cheney is a stock holder." Saviours' Day Speech, Chicago, 2/23/03

The Final Call (September 2, 1997) reported that "he [Farrakhan] said Blacks in America are under a 'death decree' from the U.S. government but America is under a 'decree of death' from God." (Baltimore, August 15, 1997) He also told that same audience that there is a "conspiracy to dumb you down." (Note: Final Call is the newspaper of the Nation of Islam)

"A decree of death has been passed on America. The judgment of God has been rendered and she must be destroyed..."

Florida Primary Petitions

raves +4 -1 by Voice in Florida
Here are several websites related to information on the Florida primary.

The first one is a partial audio tape of a legislative session in Tallahassee regarding the primary prior to it and an amendment that would have prevented the DNC ruling, therefore permitting voters in Florida to have their votes count..........

The second and third website are two separate on-line petitions to seat our delegates.

I think you will these websites very informative, and hopefully will clarify any doubts or confusion you may have about this primary issue.

And while the DNC is sorting all this out, there are 1.7+ million Floridians like myself, who voted and want our votes to count. I know personally that Senator Hillary Clinton heard our voices through pro-active Democrats (from supporters of all three candidates Clinton, Obama and Edwards), and she continues to work towards having them count. Unfortunately, Obama basically dismissed Florida after the primary by not pushing for our votes to be counted....some might say well, that's because he didn't win, or because his surrogates say the playing field was not fair. The spin on this by the media is simply unbelievable. FACT: the playing field was fair...none of the three candidates stumped in Florida, although only Obama ran national ads on the cable networks while Clinton and Edwards did not. Floridian voters feel it was fair because there was access to the TV debates prior to the primary, as well as exposure from the media, even though bias against Hillary Clinton. The issue is of having our votes count, and bigger than any one candidate. The losers here are the American people!

Here is a quote from a Florida Democratic Party bulletin dated March 18th provided to pro-active Florida Democrats regarding the Florida Primary.......

......"Our Democratic legislators in Tallahassee tried to set the Florida primary on Feb. 5, instead of Jan. 29, but of course, their proposed amendment to House Bill 537 was greeted with laughter and derision from the Republicans who control the state government".

Here is a link to the audio of the session in Tallahassee.....

Tonight's Democrat Debate

raves +3   by Voice in Florida
Who will start : >)

More than ever it looks like Hillary Clinton will win the nomination hands down.....in the debate tonight Obama paled next to Hillary Clinton. There is no doubt she blew him away in understanding the pulse of America.

The question of who can beat McCain was undoubtedly answered last night. Hillary Clinton. Obama proved he is not vettted and not prepared to take on the Republican machine in November.. He was defensive and weak in explaining his controversial issues like bitter-gate, Wright-gate, Ayers-gate, Iraq War, and the list goes on. His blaring arrogance and dismay for being questioned about things voters need clarification on was particularly troubling. This debate gave the opportunity for non-bias coverage of issues surrounding Obama's candidacy. He has an opportunity to clear the questions, and he failed. He bombed out terribly. I would expect Obamanites to also be defensive this morning in denial, but in the end, hopefull Obama will use the talent to rally his supporters behind the Democratic nominee for President, Hillary Clinton.

A Columnist's Perspective on Obama's Policies and Politics

raves +4 -1 by Voice in Florida
Ken Blackwell - Columnist for the New York Sun

It's an amazing time to be alive in America. We're in a year of firsts in this presidential election: the first viable woman candidate; the first viable African-American candidate; and, a candidate who is the first frontrunning freedom fighter over 70. The next president of America will be a first.

We won't truly be in an election of firsts, however, until we judge every candidate by where they stand. We won't arrive where we should be until we no longer talk about skin color or gender.

Now that Barack Obama steps to the front of the Democratic field, we need to stop talking about his race, and start talking about his policies and his politics.

The reality is this: Though the Democrats will not have a nominee until August, unless Hillary Clinton drops out, Mr. Obama is now the frontrunner, and its time America takes a closer and deeper look at him.

Some pundits are calling him the next John F. Kennedy. He's not. He's the next George McGovern. And it's time people learned the facts.

Because the truth is that Mr. Obama is the single most liberal senator in the entire U.S. Senate. He is more liberal than Ted Kennedy, Bernie Sanders, or Mrs. Clinton.

Never in my life have I seen a presidential frontrunner whose rhetoric is so far removed from his record. Walter Mondale promised to raise our taxes, and he lost. George McGovern promised military weakness, and he lost. Michael Dukakis promised a liberal domestic agenda, and he lost.

Yet Mr. Obama is promising all those things, and he's not behind in the polls. Why? Because the press has dealt with him as if he were in a beauty pageant.

Mr. Obama talks about getting past party, getting past red and blue, to lead the United States of America. But let's look at the more defined strokes of who he is underneath this superficial "beauty."

Start with national security, since the president's most important duties are as commander-in-chief. Over the summer, Mr. Obama talked about invading Pakistan, a nation armed with nuclear weapons; meeting without preconditions with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who vows to destroy Israel and create another Holocaust; and Kim Jong II, who is murdering and starving his people, but emphasized that the nuclear option was off the table against terrorists - something no president has ever taken off the table since we created nuclear weapons in the 1940s. Even Democrats who have worked in national security condemned all of those remarks. Mr. Obama is a foreign-policy novice who would put our national security at risk.

Next, consider economic policy. For all its faults, our health care system is the strongest in the world. And free trade agreements, created by Bill Clinton as well as President Bush, have made more goods more affordable so that even people of modest means can live a life that no one imagined a generation ago. Yet Mr. Obama promises to raise taxes on "the rich." How to fix Social Security? Raise taxes. How to fix Medicare? Raise taxes. Prescription drugs? Raise taxes. Free college? Raise taxes. Socialize medicine? Raise taxes. His solution to everything is to have government take it over. Big Brother on steroids, funded by your paycheck.

Finally, look at the social issues. Mr. Obama had the audacity to open a stadium rally by saying, "All praise and glory to God!" but says that Christian leaders speaking for life and marriage have "hijacked" - hijacked - Christianity. He is pro-partial birth abortion, and promises to appoint Supreme Court justices who will rule any restriction on it unconstitutional. He espouses the abortion views of Margaret Sanger, one of the early advocates of racial cleansing. His spiritual leaders endorse homosexual marriage, and he is moving in that direction. In Illinois, he refused to vote against a statewide ban - ban - on all handguns in the state. These are radical left, Hollywood, and San Francisco values, not Middle America values.

The real Mr. Obama is an easy target for the general election. Mrs. Clinton is a far tougher opponent. But Mr. Obama could win if people don't start looking behind his veneer and flowery speeches. His vision of "bringing America together" means saying that those who disagree with his agenda for America are hijackers or warmongers. Uniting the country means adopting his liberal agenda and abandoning any conflicting beliefs.

But right now everyone is talking about how eloquent of a speaker he is and - yes - they're talking about his race. Those should never be the factors on which we base our choice for president. Mr. Obama's radical agenda sets him far outside the American mainstream, to the left of Mrs. Clinton.

It's time to talk about the real Barack Obama. In an election of firsts, let's first make sure we elect the person who is qualified to be our president in a nuclear age during a global civilizational war.

Who Do the Media Think They Are ??

raves +4   by Voice in Florida
Something worth noting in my thoughts is how the right wing media outlet such as FoxNews has recently practiced a more moderate and fair politics [the sensitive reporting of it], and the issues voters clearly have about Obama. And while it proves to be the opposite of the liberal media source regulars on MSNBC shows or CNN, and how they have been covering the politics, I believe the wills of open-minded Democrats know the difference. The difference to weed out the egos of the god-like wanna bee news media and conclude on our own, which candidate and why, is best for the country and our future. So, who besides me, sees the balance in the larger picture of this political contest, and who disregards the competition for ratings….and polls…the bias news networks subject us to each day? Who exactly do the media think they are? Who, frankly, appreciates their news rhetoric of the political process, as if they were to speak for me? The bottom line is they are simply voters who think they have one up on us, or want us to be swayed by their own egos. To see an anchor on a late night talk show, and with such conviction on his opinion, it was unbelievable and tragic. The nerve of this guy to shove down our throats the same slanted rhetoric he professes all day. Turn the channel you say, well again, its everywhere....

So, I am convinced more that ever the difference between achieving balance of one’s own opinion is to trust your own impartiality, and have the judgment to ignore the nervous media and pundits. In the end, follow your heart. I can't wait to have Hillary Clinton beat the Republicans and John McCain come November !!

Hillary Clinton wrap it up?? No Way..see you in Denver !
