When or Will the Draft be Reenacted?

raves +3   by KARA~PUMA
My Opinion. “I think that in a time of war against our own country draft is inevitable, no matter who is the Commander in Chief. Bush has never reinstated the draft. The last draft that was in place was during the Viet Nam War. A democrat was the POTUS then.”

This is what RoseAnna Woods has to say about mandatory military in countries.

Germany, Italy, South Korea: all countries that require everyone to serve a short tour in their military. All countries that offer free medical to everyone, all countries that offer higher education to those seeking it. All countries that have high taxes. What would the effect be on the United States population if the draft was reinstated? This is a complicated question and the answer is not always black and white.
A heated debate between a supporter of the draft and between an opponent of it might go something like this:

"John, everyone should serve, it teaches unity and commitment to one's country" Draft

We are wondering if the most likely cause of a draft would be if Kerry were elected. The people serving might be less likely to reup and new signees might be less likely to sign up with Kerry as 'Commander and Chief'. This could cause a situation where we actually NEED a draft. Seeing what happened to the POWs in Vietnam, people might not want to serve under Kerry in Iraq. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-gop/1245529/posts

Now--Abolish the Selective Service and Military Slavery
lewrockwell.com — Once again the possibility of reinstating a military draft is being discussed in DC. We are nearing the point where a choice will have to be made: either decrease our troop commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan significantly, or produce thousands of new military recruits quickly. So a discussion of military conscription is not purely academic.

My Opinion. “In all sincerity, I do not want the draft to be put into action at all. It is so obvious to me that no matter who our President is, if we are in a state of emergency there is no option but to in act a military draft.”

The John McCain campaign fired off an angry letter to NBC News criticizing Andrea Mitchell's comments regarding the "cone of silence" at Saturday night's presidential candidates' forum at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California.

Campaign manager Rick Davis cited Mitchell's comments on NBC's "Meet the Press" that the Barack Obama campaign had said privately that they believed McCain "may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama. He seemed so well prepared."

Pastor Rick Warren on Saturday sat down first with Obama and asked him the same questions he would later ask McCain.

Davis denied what he called "a completely unsubstantiated Obama campaign claim that John McCain somehow cheated." While Obama was being interviewed, McCain was driving to the event and then in a green room without TV, Davis said.

In a letter to NBC News president Steve Capus, Davis said that the network's "level of objectivity ... has fallen so low that reporters are now giving voice to unsubstantiated, partisan claims in order to undercut John McCain." He requested a meeting with Capus to discuss news standards and objectivity.

"We are concerned that your news division is following MSNBC's lead in abandoning nonpartisan coverage of the presidential race," Davis wrote.

In a statement Monday, NBC News said that it welcomed an opportunity to speak with officials from both campaigns and said it is in daily contact with the McCain camp.

"With all due respect to the campaign leadership, they are viewing our coverage through a political prism," NBC News said. "We stand by our reporting, our journalism and our journalists."

It's not the first time that NBC has been the subject of accusations during the presidential campaign. MSNBC and NBC News were cited several times during the primary campaign over perceived mistreatment of Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton.

The DNC Concentration Camp

The holding cells for the demonstrators durning the Democratic convention are extreme and inhumane. This is who Barack Obama is. What is wrong with the DNC? What has happened to freedom of speech? The DNC is no better then communists. We are nothing more then cattle as far as the DNC is concerned

We Have Your Back Senator Clinton

Neither Barack Obama nor Hillary Clinton has two-thirds of the votes that are needed to secure the nomination. Polosi and Dean are breaking the rules of the DNC if Hillary's name is not included. Barack Obama should not even be the presumed nominee.

Obama is a Rock Star—Not

raves +9   by KARA~PUMA
Is Barack Obama really a rock-star? I do not think so. I think that Barack Obama is nothing but hype. Obama is no more then a man with human tendencies. The media, Oprah, and the DNC elitists chose Obama. He was not elected to be the presumed nominee; he was selected.

I will not be voting for Barack Obama. He does not do it for me. I have discovered on numerous occasions that he lacks in experience and ethics. Obama has flip-flopped on issues, plagiarized his speeches, has poor judgment in friends, and has lied so much that he is not able to keep up with them himself. I am not one of his sheep. Neither John McCain nor Barack Obama enthuse me at this time. I just happen to believe that JM is better then BO. I just might not be voting at all in November. A lot can happen between now and then.

I am a Democrat but now I am ashamed to be one. The DNC has done no better then what happened in the 2000 Presidential election when the GOP manipulated it. Two wrongs do not make it right as far as I can see. The Democratic Party is no better then the Republican Party.

The media, DNC, and others have equated Barack Obama to President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Obama does have some similarities to President Kennedy; however, he will never be the man that JFK was...Barack Obama is no more then any one of us. He is only human. He is not the Rock Star that the media has presented him to be either.

By the way, the race between Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy was a close one. I hope that this election will not turn out to be one of the similarities of BO and JFK.—After all, history sometimes has a way of repeating itself.
