ObamaCare protesters and supporters gathered to have their opinions voiced and seen. One can easily see the difference between the two groups. The one group had almost all homemade signs. They had no bullhorns and no apparent "organizers". They arrived using their own means of transportation. They were there early and stayed after Pelosi was gone. The other group had almost all professionally made signs. They had bullhorns, organizers, and transportation provided to and from the event. They showed up late. They shouted down the ObamaCare protesters and then got their photo op in. They pushed their way to the front so Pelosi could see them and they could see her. Then they got a ride, according to one woman with the group, to Pelosi's next stop for more of the same. This sounds like a real grassroots group to me. Here's a link to the commentary on the gatherings with many more pictures than are posted here. http://www.lookingattheleft.com/2009/08/pelosi-astroturf-heal... Pics This shows some media photographers getting pictures and notice, which group gets the coverage. That's not allowed. That's the message from the Obama administration and Senator Baucus. Fortunately, a few Senators still believe in the US Constitution. You know, that little piece of paper they are all sworn to uphold and protect, but most abhor. Senator Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, had a little to say about Sen. Baucus' former aide, Jonathan Blum, who was tapped by Obama for Director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, trying to stifle insurance company dissent to ObamaCare. I am not familiar with Sen. McConnell, but he earned a great deal of respect from me for this speech. Here is the video of the speech. In 1775, John Adams wrote, "There is in human nature a resentment of injury, and indignation against wrong, a love of truth and a veneration of virtue ... if the people are capable of understanding, seeing and feeling the differences between true and false, right and wrong, virtue and vice..." Adams understood that a shared penchant for justice and virtue is essential to liberty, and depends upon the ability of people to discern between right and wrong. Today, it is evident to every astute social scientist (and most anyone with common sense) that among definable American subcultures the capacity for distinguishing between right and wrong is severely diminished. The origin of these deteriorating standards for justice and virtue is rooted in the dissolution of the family, and the failure of our places of worship and our schools to instill those values necessary for self-government -- self-government being the foundation of family-government and that being the foundation of social responsibility. U.S. urban centers, and to a lesser extent suburban and rural areas, are now home to generations of sociopaths who do not value your life, simply because they do not value their own. Making matters worse, the MSM perpetuates a virtual blackout of news regarding select sociopaths, while trumpeting allegations and speculations of others. This results in a distorted popular understanding of the extent of the social degradation around us. Three years ago (March 2006), the Leftmedia spent a year relentlessly convicting in the court of public opinion three white Duke University lacrosse players for a "hate crime" -- the alleged gang rape of a black woman named Crystal Gail Mangum. Millions of dollars in defense-lawyer fees later, it turns out that there was no evidence and that Mangum was a liar. The real victims were, in fact, the accused men: David Evans, Reade Seligmann and Colin Finnerty. (All charges were dropped, but there has been no apology yet from 88 Duke professors who jumped on the bandwagon, condemning Evans, Seligmann and Finnerty in an open letter before the first day of their trial.) Four weeks ago, Barack Hussein Obama interrupted a live media propaganda confab promoting his administration's most critical national initiative (nationalizing health care) in order to accuse a white Cambridge, MA, police officer, James Crowley, of "acting stupidly" for arresting Obama's black friend, Henry Gates. That accusation was followed by similar knee-jerk pronouncements of racism by the black governor of Massachusetts and the black mayor of Cambridge. Under such heavy-handed political and media pressure, all charges against Gates were dropped. The Gates' story dominated the national media headlines for a couple weeks, until it was determined that the officer's actions were, in fact, justified. Obama attempted to make amends by tossing back a few beers with the Gates and Crowley in the Rose Garden, but BO offered no public apology. (Narcissists do not apologize, they just reinterpret the facts.) This week, there is a trial underway which is racially charged, but, unless you were reading The Patriot back in 2007, chances are you have not heard of this one since it involves a savage black-on-white crime, rather than MSM feeding frenzy accusations of white-on-black crimes. Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom I am referring to the brutal torture, mutilation and murder of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom by four black men in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the event you were not a reader in '07, allow me to recount this horrendous incident ... because you won't see or hear it from any MSM news outlets. On 6 January 2007, Channon (age 21) and Christopher (age 23) were out for a Saturday dinner date, after which Channon called her mom to report that they were on the way to visit friends. But Channon and Christopher never arrived at their friends' house -- nor returned home. The next day, the mutilated and burned remains of Chris Newsom were found along a railroad track. Two days later, Channon's mutilated body was recovered from a trash bin. Channon and Chris were in Channon's Toyota 4-Runner when they were carjacked. They were taken to a nearby house, brutally gang-raped, mutilated and then murdered. They were subjected to lengthy torture in each other's presence. Newsom was raped, his genitals were cut off, and then taken to the railroad tracks where he was shot execution-style. The perpetrators soaked his body with an accelerant and burned his body. Christian was kept alive for a while longer, repeatedly raped, mutilated, had cleaning solution poured down her throat in an attempt to destroy DNA evidence, and then stuffed inside a trash can where she suffocated to death. This appalling attack is more than a case study in sociopathic evil. It is a case study about which stories the MSM headlines and which they do not. Yes, there are some 17,000 murders committed in the U.S. each year, but this double murder was clearly far more barbaric, far more monstrous, than most. Regrettably, there is nothing new about the racial aspect of this story, which may explain why it was not national news. Although blacks represent just 12 percent of the U.S. population, black perpetrators are convicted by a jury of their peers in more than half of all murder and manslaughter cases. Additionally, per-capita black-on-white crime is far more prevalent than the inverse. The underlying social factors contributing to such racially unbalanced crime statistics have been delineated by many conservative black leaders and academicians. However, their solutions -- most notably promoting family unity, faith-based programs, better schools and individual responsibility and accountability, contradict leftist political objectives, which seek to maintain black folks' status as wards of the state. (The modern Democrat implementation of a plantation system.) The Accused Charged in the torture/murder of Chanon and Christopher were Eric Boyd, Letalvis Cobbins, Lemaricus Davidson, George Thomas and Vanessa Coleman. In April 2008, Boyd was convicted in federal court of being an accessory after the fact, but the MSM was too busy fawning over the candidacy of Barack Obama to report that conviction. (Boyd's case is on appeal.) "One down. Four to go," said Channon's father, Gary Christian. He and Channon's mother, Deena have been present at all the proceedings. "We do this for Channon," said Deena. "We've been through the worst. We and the Newsoms have lost our children. We can endure anything." This week, the trial of a second defendant, Letalvis Cobbins, is underway, but it's safe to say that the prosecution of this defendant will pass without a satellite news-link truck anywhere in sight. I draw your attention to this case not only to mourn the murder of this young couple, but also to call attention to a despicable political double standard which includes the MSM's complicity in advancing that standard. In 1998, three white men in Jasper, Texas, beat a black man, James Byrd, then chained him to the back of a pickup truck and dragged him three miles to his death. Not surprisingly, Byrd's murder received national media attention -- as it should. Clearly, hate was a motivating factor in the Jasper case, but it was also a motivating factor in Knoxville, though not a "hate crime" as defined by federal law. So, why do white-on-black hate crimes invariably result in a media feeding frenzy, while black-on-white hate crimes receive nary a mention? What about the double standard when it comes to race-hustling poverty pimps like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (who fabricated the Tawana Brawley rape hoax)? The only difference in racists such as Jackson and Sharpton and those in the KKK is that the latter are not Leftmedia celebs. To that end, my colleague Walter Williams posited this query: "What have we heard from the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others who rushed to judgment and outrage as they condemned whites in the cases of the 'Jena 6' and Don Imus when he referred to the Rutgers ladies basketball team as 'nappy-headed ho's'? Where were the national news media and public officials? You can bet the rent money that, were the victims black and the perpetrators white, Knoxville would have been inundated with TV crews, with Jackson, Sharpton and other civil rights spokesmen and politicians from both parties condemning racism, possibly blaming it all on George Bush..." As for the defendants in this case, Knox County has already paid in excess of $350 thousand to prosecute and defend these monsters. Based on the eyewitness account of defendant Vanessa Coleman, the question before Cobbins' jury, and those yet to be empanelled for the other defendants, is not one of guilt or innocence, but guilty of what charges. Those found guilty will be treated to either life imprisonment, with all entitlements, or life on death row for maybe a couple decades -- all at a cost to taxpayers of more than $100 thousand per year per convict. Deena and Gary Christian at trial Martin Luther King, in his "Letter from a Birmingham Jail, proclaimed, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." The MSM blackout of this crime is a grave injustice. To the families and friends of Channon and Christopher, we share your grief and will continue this vigil with you until justice is served. It is still pertinent and applicable today. LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO BLAME? CONGRESS IS GOOD PLACE TO START [METRO Edition] Orlando Sentinel - Orlando, Fla. Author: Charley Reese of The Sentinel Staff Date: Mar 7, 1995 Start Page: A.8 Section: EDITORIAL Text Word Count: 615 Document Text Politicians, as I have often said, are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Everything on the Republican contract is a problem created by Congress. Too much bureaucracy? Blame Congress. Too many rules? Blame Congress. Unjust tax laws? Congress wrote them. Out-of-control bureaucracy? Congress authorizes everything bureaucracies do. Americans dying in Third World rat holes on stupid U.N. missions? Congress allows it. The annual deficits? Congress votes for them. The $4 trillion plus debt? Congress created it. To put it into perspective just remember that 100 percent of the power of the federal government comes from the U.S. Constitution. If it's not in the Constitution, it's not authorized. Then read your Constitution. All 100 percent of the power of the federal government is invested solely in 545 individual human beings. That's all. Of 260 million Americans, only 545 of them wield 100 percent of the power of the federal government. That's 435 members of the U.S. House, 100 senators, one president and nine Supreme Court justices. Anything involving government that is wrong is 100 percent their fault. I exclude the vice president because constitutionally he has no power except to preside over the Senate and to vote only in the case of a tie. I exclude the Federal Reserve because Congress created it and all its power is power Congress delegated to it and could withdraw anytime it chooses to do so. In fact, all the power exercised by the 3 million or so other federal employees is power delegated from the 545. All bureaucracies are created by Congress or by executive order of the president. All are financed and staffed by Congress. All enforce laws passed by Congress. All operate under procedures authorized by Congress. That's why all complaints and protests should be properly directed at Congress, not at the individual agencies. You don't like the IRS? Go see Congress. You think the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agency is running amok? Go see Congress. Congress is the originator of all government problems and is also the only remedy available. That's why, of course, politicians go to such extraordinary lengths and employ world-class sophistry to make you think they are not responsible. Anytime a congressman pretends to be outraged by something a federal bureaucrat does, he is in fact engaging in one big massive con job. No federal employee can act at all except to enforce laws passed by Congress and to employ procedures authorized by Congress either explicitly or implicitly. Partisans on both sides like to blame presidents for deficits, but all deficits are congressional deficits. The president may, by custom, recommend a budget, but it carries no legal weight. Only Congress is authorized by the Constitution to authorize and appropriate and to levy taxes. That's what the federal budget consists of: expenditures authorized, funds appropriated and taxes levied. Both Democrats and Republicans mislead the public. For 40 years Democrats had majorities and could have at any time balanced the budget if they had chosen to do so. Republicans now have majorities and could, if they choose, pass a balanced budget this year. Every president, Democrat or Republican, could have vetoed appropriations bills that did not make up a balanced budget. Every president could have recommended a balanced budget. None has done either. We have annual deficits and a huge federal debt because that's what majorities in Congress and presidents in the White House wanted. We have troops in various Third World rat holes because Congress and the president want them there. Don't be conned. Don't let them escape responsibility. We simply have to sort through 260 million people until we find 545 who will act responsibly. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner. Some political scientists argue that democracy is a conduit for "peaceful revolutions," including radical shifts in political ideology, without a shot being fired. I agree, except that our nation is not a "dumbocracy." It is a republic, or at least it was before the once proud Democrat Party became infested with Socialists, who masterfully co-opted the education system along with the modern "opiate of the masses" (television and print media), and re-educated those masses. So successful has this Leftist strategy been that their dumbed-down constituencies now follow their messianic leader like dullard lemmings. Consequently, here is an account of a few notable events from the first 100 days of "hope and change." Under the aegis of "economic stimulus," Obama promptly raided the Treasury and doled it out to his constituencies -- at terrible expense to this and future generations. Asked how one might evaluate the effectiveness of his plan, Obama replied, "I think my initial measure of success is creating or saving four million jobs." Not even Bill Clinton had the hubris to suggest something as slick as "saving four million jobs." Remarkably, Obama managed to ram that one through Congress without a single Democrat claiming to have read it. As for his cabinet, a long list of Obama nominees agreed to pay back taxes in return for rubber stamp appointments, including Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, who, despite owing more than $40,000 now oversees the IRS. Poor nominee Tom Daschle, who in a previous life as Demo Senate Majority Leader proclaimed, "Tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter." He was all but confirmed as HHS Secretary until we learned that he had cheated us out of $130,000 in back taxes. Apparently even Obama's hypocrisy knows some limits. Obama last fall repeatedly promised to end the practice of special interest earmarks. Then, he signed an appropriations bill with more than 8,000 earmarks, including $2 billion for House Appropriations Chairman David Obey's lobbyist son's projects, $3.7 billion for contracts to Sen. Diane Feinstein's husband's company, and $4.19 billion for Obama's favorite voter fraud outfit, ACORN. When the pork-laden bill passed, Obama had the audacity to proclaim, "I'm proud that we passed a recovery plan free of earmarks." Obama also converted the Federal Reserve and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation into instruments for nationalizing the banking system. Under the pretense of responding to "global warming," Obama has plans to impose almost $2 trillion in cap-and-tax energy taxes -- this despite his oft-repeated pledge that 95 percent of Americans wouldn't see their taxes increased. Obama's $3.5 trillion 2010 budget includes projections for more than $9 trillion in near-term increases of national debt. Feigning fiscal integrity, Obama demanded budget cuts of $100 million -- which is to say that even while obscenely expanding the size of government, he targeted some spending that was out of line with his ideology. For the record, $100 million represents three one-thousandths of one percent of Obama's FY 2010 budget, or approximately what the central government redistributes every 13 minutes of every hour of every day of every week of... Harvard Economist Greg Mankiw also offered some perspective on this $100 million spending cut, noting that it's the equivalent of a family with a $100,000 income cutting a $3 latte from their budget. Of Obama's budget, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi exclaimed, "[F]or the first time in many, many years, we have a president's budget ... that is a statement of our national values. ... It's a very happy day for our country." Meanwhile, according to The Wall Street Journal, in February, the price of single-family homes in 20 major metropolitan areas fell 18.6 percent from the previous year, after a record 19 percent drop in January. In the first quarter of 2009, the U.S. economy contracted at a seasonally adjusted 6.1 percent annual rate, and Americans lost more than two million jobs. No doubt Obama's bold and swift action saved four million other jobs. Perhaps the most dangerous of all the Obama policy shifts, however, is his framing of our foreign policy with atonement for America's past, which he says has been "arrogant," "dismissive" and "derisive." In doing so, he lends credibility to the anti-American attitudes and actions of our enemies. Some of the most telling examples of Obama's ideology are apparent in the last few of his first hundred days. For example: Day 97: Obama's White House Military Office appointee, former Clintonista Louis Caldera, authorized a photo shoot of Air Force One over Manhattan, an event which involved the low flight of a large jet plane with two F-16s in pursuit over Ground Zero and points nearby. Because the public wasn't told, many feared another 9/11 attack was in progress. Indeed, an FAA memo prior to the flight warned of "the possibility of public concern regarding DoD aircraft flying at low altitudes." To which Obama responded, "It, uh, was, uh, a mistake. It, uh, will never, uh, happen again." The Air Force reported that the flight of the VC-25 (customized Boeing 747) and its two attendant F-16s cost $328,835. However, the actual cost associated with the operation of VC-25 alone, when considering all support and planning for this photo folly, was closer to $775,000 (and who knows how many Al Gore carbon credits had to be purchased to offset this operation). On the other hand, the one-time purchase of Adobe Photoshop costs around $600. In January, Obama chastised private sector executives for using corporate jets to commute, most of which cost $3-$5 thousand per hour to operate. The plane we taxpayers fund for Obama costs $260,000 per hour to operate, and Monday, it was cruising around without him. Day 98: Obama's EPA administrator, Lisa Jackson, in an NPR interview about Obama's Orwellian cap-and-tax policy, remarked, "The president has said, and I couldn't agree more, that what this country needs is one single national roadmap that tells automakers, who are trying to become solvent again, what kind of car it is that they need to be designing and building for the American people." The interviewer asks, "Is that the role of the government? That doesn't sound like free enterprise." Jackson, obviously in need of her ObamaPrompter, replied, "Well, it, it, it is free enterprise in a way. Um, ah, you know, first and foremost, the free enterprise system has us where we are right this second. And so some would argue that the government has a much larger role to play then we might've when Henry Ford rolled the first cars off the assembly line." Some might argue that "we are where we are" because government has played "a much larger role since Henry Ford rolled the first cars off the assembly line." Day 99: After the media fanned the flames about a "swine flu pandemic," Obama warned, "This is obviously a serious situation, serious enough to take the utmost precautions." He then promptly applied his "Rule 1" and asked Congress for $1.5 billion in emergency funding. Day 100: The Obamaprompter addressed the nation yesterday, and not only did he claim, "We inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit. That wasn't me," but once again trotted this one out: "[My recovery act] has already saved or created over 150,000 jobs." We checked our copy of the Constitution, and indeed, Congress sets budget. Democrats have controlled the Senate and House for the last two years (which coincides with the housing and financial market collapses) and Obama was in the Senate for both of those years. As for jobs, I am sure that Obama has "saved" all our jobs! Hail Obama! Let us all bow down to "The One." As for the Socialist makeover of the U.S. economy, Obama said, "I want to disabuse people of this notion that somehow we enjoy, you know, meddling in the private sector." Like totally, you know. House Minority Leader John Boehner correctly surmises, "The president's first 100 days can be summed up in three words: spending, taxing, and borrowing." Suffice it to say, the list is as long as it is absurd, and you can bask in a litany of examples we've compiled for your reading displeasure at "The First Hundred Days." As for "peaceful revolutions," John F. Kennedy declared in 1962, "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." I would argue this case: Those who undermine our republican Rule of Law make violent revolution inevitable. To that end, there is some good news on the "checks and balances" front, though some may find this a bit disconcerting. There are now more than 65 million gun-owning Patriots across this nation, many of whom have taken sacred oaths "to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." We stand ready to honor that oath, understanding that, in the words of John Adams, "A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever." And the ranks of Patriots are growing. In the last three months of 2008, Americans bought enough guns to arm the national armies of both China and India -- a total of 12.7 million guns last year. Gun sales in the first three months of 2009 were 27 percent higher year-over-year than the first three months of 2008 (which also realized record sales). Perhaps all these gun purchases are coincidental, not consequential. But I doubt it. As Americans begin to awaken to the reality of Obama's Socialist agenda, it will be interesting to see how his next 1,361 days unfold. At the close of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Benjamin Franklin was asked if the delegates had formed a republic or a monarchy. "A republic," he responded, "if you can keep it." We will see. He started talking, over Justice Roberts, before he was supposed to speak. The MSM likes to talk of what a great student of history that is President Obama. Why did he not know he was not supposed to speak until after "do solemnly swear"? In my mind, when I first saw the oath being administered, Barack Obama's interruption led to Justice Roberts misspeaking. To be sure of what I thought, I listened to the Oath of Office, for every president back to Eisenhower. Everyone of them allowed the Chief Justice to say, "I ____, do solemnly swear," then they spoke. I'm sick and tired of everyone saying Roberts flubbed it, but not mentioning Obama's mistake, too. Even "the Chosen One" blew it. To check for yourselves, go to google video, google the last name of a president with oath (i.e., bush oath). 2009-02-06T18:28:07Z LeeVee- "This is NOT White House approved"
