Anderson 11/04/2009 12:00:00 AM According to 60 Minutes, cocaine trafficking has now given way to Medicare fraud as the number-one illicit enterprise in South Florida. Both 60 Minutes and the Washington Post report that nationwide Medicare fraud now costs American taxpayers $60 billion a year. The 60 Minutes story is fully of juicy anecdotes about government incompetence. There's the criminal who says that stealing from Medicare is so "easy" that "it was ridiculous." There's the lady who for six years has been telling Medicare officials that strange and extravagant charges keep showing up on her explanations of Medicare benefits--charges that officials still have yet to prevent from accruing, and from being paid by tax dollars. And there's the man on Medicare who used his own hands and arms to open up his explanation of benefits, only to read that Medicare had been billed--and had paid--for two new (prosthetic) arms on his behalf. Even 60 Minutes says that the rampant nature of Medicare fraud raises "some troubling questions about our government's ability to manage a medical bureaucracy." Given all of this, it's no wonder that since 1970 the costs of Medicare have risen over 25 percent more, per patient, than the combined costs of all other health care in America. And that's even without counting the Medicare prescription drug benefit. Sixty billion dollars in Medicare fraud is a lot of money, but how can we really put it into perspective? President Obama talks a lot about insurance companies and their "record profits." Let's compare those numbers. Fortune 500 tallies show that last year's profits for the ten largest private insurance companies in America were $8 billion--combined. Even the single most profitable insurance company didn't make five percent as much as what Medicare lost to fraud. It may be surprising that you could multiply the profits of America's ten largest private insurance companies seven-fold and that Medicare would still have managed to lose more money than they make. But try this one on for size: The Washington Post reports that a high-school dropout in Miami submitted false Medicare claims from her laptop across four years, bilking Medicare out of $105 million. Four of the ten largest private insurance companies failed to make $105 million in combined profits. That's right: A lone criminal grossed more from Medicare fraud than four out of the ten largest private insurance companies collectively netted in profits. All of this is important because, as everyone knows by now, the Democrats want to grant the federal government far greater control over our nation's health-care system, while Republicans want to leave that control in private hands. It turns out that the difference in costs between these two approaches is even greater than the difference between the $60 billion that Medicare loses to fraud and the $8 billion that private insurers make in profits. The massive Democratic bills in the House and Senate would each cost in the range of $1 trillion. The Republican small bill, similar to the small bill proposed in these pages, would cost about $60 billion--about seven percent as much. The Democratic bills would increase taxes and penalties on Americans by over half a trillion dollars. The Republican bill wouldn't raise taxes at all. The Democratic bill would be paid for largely by siphoning about $400 billion out of Medicare. The Republican bill wouldn't touch Medicare. But these tallies aren't all that is different between the bills. The Democratic approach is to increase access to health care by imposing government mandates, which in turn would raise costs. The Republican approach is to lower costs, which in turn would increase access. Thus, the Republican bill would meet both of the widely stated goals of health-care reform: It would decrease the number of uninsured and lower the costs of health care. The Democratic bills would address the number of uninsured at the expense of exacerbating health costs. The 1,500-plus-page Democratic bills would result not only in higher taxes but higher insurance premiums. The 219-page Republican bill would make health insurance more affordable for everyone, across the board. It would do so by allowing Americans to purchase health insurance across state lines and letting them shop for the best values from coast to coast; allowing small businesses to pool together to buy insurance; allowing private entities to follow the Safeway cost-cutting model of offering lower premiums for healthier lifestyles (which the federal government currently--amazingly--limits); and by preventing the runaway malpractice lawsuits that force doctors to practice costly defensive medicine. Despite felling forests of trees, the Democratic bills would do none of these four things. The Republican bill would "allow" where the Democratic bills would "require." The former would increase personal freedom; the latter would restrict it. For the small minority of Americans who are uninsured because they have prohibitively expensive preexisting conditions--last estimated in a federal government survey as well under one percent of the population--the Republican plan would create Universal Access Programs to expand and reform state-run high-risk pools. Such programs would guarantee that all Americans, regardless of preexisting conditions or past illnesses, would have access to affordable care, without needlessly raising health-care premiums across the board. Furthermore, the Republican bill would start right away. The Democratic bills wouldn't kick in until after the next presidential election--although their "10-year" costs include the three years during which they would lie dormant. (So the Democrats are really offering seven years for the price of ten.) The massive Democratic bills would entrust an entity that can't keep an eye on $60 billion with much greater control over our entire health-care system. The Republican small bill, on the other hand, wouldn't dramatically increase government spending or control; wouldn't raise taxes, deficits, or insurance premiums; and wouldn't siphon money out of Medicare. Instead, it would keep our privately run health-care system in place, provide sensible and targeted reforms, and adhere to a guiding principle of medicine: first, do no harm. If anyone doubts whether the Republican tally of $60 billion in new spending is enough to address our nation's pressing health-care concerns, remember this: That's seven times more than the combined annual profits of America's ten largest insurance companies. You can do a lot with $60 billion a year--if you don't lose it. Report: Cash for Clunkers a Huge Waste Tuesday, November 3, 2009 11:22 AM By: Julie Crawshaw Cash for Clunkers clearly distorted the U.S. economic figures in an unsustainable way, according to The Business Insider, which cites a report from the Bureau of Economic Analysis that indicates GDP growth in the third quarter would have been 1.89 percent, not 3.5 percent as claimed, without government money. Moreover, the $3 billion program cost an average of $24,000 per additional car sold, according to an analysis by automotive consumer researcher Edmunds.com. Nearly 690,000 vehicles were sold during the program, officially known as CARS, but Edmunds.com analysts calculated that only 125,000 of the sales were incremental. The rest of the sales would have happened anyway, regardless of the existence of the program. "This analysis is valuable for two reasons," explained Edmunds.com CEO Jeremy Anwyl. "First, it can form the basis for a complete assessment of the program's impact and costs.” “Second — and more important — it can help us to understand the true state of auto sales and the economy.” Ironically, Anwyl notes, the average transaction price for a new vehicle in August 2009 was only $26,915 minus an average cash rebate of $1,667. For $3 billion, “the federal government could have purchased the 125,000 cars outright at manufacturer suggested retail prices … and then handed each of the recipients an additional bonus check averaging the Cash-for-Clunkers subsidy of $4,000,” writes Thomas Eddlem at The New American. “Or they could have bought every one of those 125,000 people a Smart car and then given them a check for $6,000.” © 2009 Newsmax. RNC LEADERSHIP SHOULD RESIGN! Posted by Van Guard on November 2, 2009 at 1:13pm The rise of Doug Hoffman in New York's 23rd congressional district, the withdrawal of Dede Scozzafava, and the subsequent endorsement by Scozzafava of her previous National Socialist Democrat party opponent, is a Republican Party catastrophe. Just last week Newton Gingrich was admonishing supporters of Doug Hoffman at one of his book siginings, where he, in effect, said that to win, the party had to go with Scozzafava. Now that she has withdrawn from the race he is praising her for doing the right thing by withdrawing from the race. What does he have to say now that, according to news reports and tghe blogosphere, Scozzafava has endorsed her previous rival, Democrat Bill Owens? And who is holding the Republican leadership accountable? A new staff needs to take over the reins of the Republican party, and it had better be at the very least a staff of Reagan Conservatives, not the cow-tow-to-Liberal-National-Socialists that are currently running the show. This fiasco is not something that was orchestrated by any conspiracy that wanted to topple the Republican incompetent leadership. They did this all by themselves. At a time when there needs to be vehement, vociferous, and pro-active opposition to the nationalist socialist agenda of the National Socialist Democrat Party, we have the RNC leadership siding with a Liberal Democrat, who only wore Republican clothes to get elected. Instead of intensely vetting this candidate to make sure she did not resemble the party that seeks to bankrupt this country, they elected to run under the Republican Party banner, someone, who less than a month ago was considering running as a Democrat. The very people that should have been watching the "opposition" to make sure we were not infiltrated, not only recruited a candidate of the opposition, not only enlisted her as the person to represent the Party in the 23rd district of New York, but endorsed her and gave her every resource and support available to run as a Republican. An unknown patriot rose out of the crowd with the courage and ethics to say "NO MORE!" And he now represents the Conservative cause while running under another banner. The current Republican leadership has made a complete laughing stock of its Party, to the point that no one needs to accuse them of betraying their constituents to the opposition, because the facts are obvious from coast to coast on national television, radio, newspapers, and the internet. The facts indict and convict the guilty parties. Like Dede Scozzafava, the Republican Party's current leadership should "do the right thing" and step down. Otherwise they will forever be dodging the cliche and the joke, "that they were for Scozzafava before they were against her." They will have on their bio's that they favored such a Liberal Republican, that she now supports her previous opponent. It makes them guilty of "bi-partisan" politics that is defined as "one-party" politics, specifically, the National Socialist Democrat Party, the Obamistas and the Pelosistas. At the reins of the RNC should be appointed Sarah Palin, Fred Thompson, Jeri Thompson, or someone of that caliber and character, and it should be done promptly and efficiently. This is that moment in history that needs to go on the books as the time that Conservatives assumed responsibility, took the initiative, assumed the leadership role, and embraced the American Conservative Cultural Revolution. It is a moment that needs to be remembered in history as the beginning of the Renaissance of Freedom. That moment is now. Those Conservatives are YOU! Be the Vanguard of Freedom and insist that the Republican Leadership be changed now or create a new party now: Because what we have is apparently a two party system, that is in fact ONE party, and that party is the National Socialist Party. The National Socialist American States is not my country, nor is it yours. Now is the time to take our country back, and we can start with the Republican Party, or replace it forthwith with one that will honor and defend our Constitution: One nation under God with Liberty and Justice for all.

17 year old Former Muslim Rifqa Bary Faces Death!

By Andrea Lafferty Rifqa Bary is the 17-year-old girl who fled from Ohio to Florida earlier this year to escape being killed by her Muslim father. What was Bary's crime? She converted to Christianity several years ago and kept her faith hidden from her Muslim parents. In Islam, converting to another religion is a capital offense punishable by death. Rifqa sought refuge in Florida at the home of a Christian pastor and his wife. Tragically, a Florida court ruled that Rifqa had to be returned to Ohio and put into protective care until she reached the age of 18. However, once she was in Ohio, all deals were off. An Ohio judge agreed with Rifqa's parents and her father's Muslim attorney to put the girl into solitary confinement. She will have her phone calls monitored and her internet use monitored as well. Her parents have been working with attorneys with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization with ties to Islamic extremist groups. Bary's father, Mohamed, has denied threatening to kill his daughter, but part of Islamic theology is lying to infidels. It is called "taqqiya." This doctrine teaches Muslims to practice deception, fraud and double standards in defending Islam from infidels. Bary's parents are also in the U.S. illegally from Sri Lanka. In addition, Rifqa Bary's parents attend the Noor Islamic Cultural Center, a hotbed of terrorist-related activities. I fear that Bary's parents will ship Rifqa off to a mental asylum in Sri Lanka where she will be browbeaten into denouncing Christianity. If this fails, she can be legally killed for apostacy. Or, her father may simply murder her in an Islam-sanctioned "honor killing." Rifqa Bary is facing a death penalty – thanks to courts in Florida and in Ohio. Several groups are planning a rally for Rifqa Bary in Columbus, Ohio on November 16, the date of Rifqa's next hearing. The rally is being sponsored by Atlas Shrugs, Jihad Watch, Dr. Andrew Bostom and Former Muslims United. It will be held at the Franklin County Courthouse, 373 S. High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
