Genealogy find: Hazel Green Herald March - 1902 Douglas Evans, the mail carrier between Campton and Torrent, one day last week, when about half way between the former and the latter place, was attacked by a bear and compelled to dismount from his horse and climb a tree. But bruin was soon ascending the tree after him with at an alarming speed and agility, and it seemed likely that Uncle Sam's carrier would make a dinner for the bear, but Evans just then remembered the forty-five in his belt, which he had forgotten until then. I'm not a card carrying Modern Whig but I do get periodical emails from them. Thought somebody might be interested in this third party. To the members of the Modern Whig Party, During the run of the historic Whigs, luminaries such as Abraham Lincoln organized "mass meetings" to build the party from the ground up and gain mainstream support. In that tradition, the Modern Whig Party continues to host such events for our thousands of members. Gatherings have already taken place in numerous places such as Missouri, New York and Texas, as well as substantial online venues. Deployed service members also have quietly organized meetings. In fact, our next mass meeting is set to take place in Washington, DC. To that end, we are asking all of our leaders and active members to continue organizing mass meetings. Such events are not meant to be meticulously planned affairs in stuffy environments. Instead, organize in a bar. Meet at a restaurant. Host a house party. Arrange a pot luck picnic. On Obama's 100 Days

Obama is the most polarizing president in history. His disapproval rating at this point in his presidency is nine points higher than was George Bushs'. I don't need to be polled to say I'm very dissatified with Obama. I was a life-time Democrat until last year. Fellow Democrats called me racist, and worse, and I was stalked by the party activists online to intimdate me. The Democrat party today, as far as I'm concerned, is name only and might as well come out of the closet and announce itself as the Green Party. Obama's association with unrepentent domestic terrorists, and Jeremiah Wright, et al...does not reflect my values. I'm radically opposed to government encroachment on private businesses and banks, bloated government, more taxes, internationalism government, in which international law would infringe on the U.S. Constitution as the law of the land. The bar is 65. That's the average 100-day approval rating for the ten presidents between 1953 and 2009. Obama will likely be narrowly underachieving when the milestone comes to pass, perhaps earning 63 percent. That would place Obama between Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter in the public's view. Real winners. John F. Kennedy matches Lyndon Johnson for the highest average 100-day approval rating. But Johnson, like Harry Truman, owed his vaulted status to the death of a president. Americans' early view of Kennedy is the most impressive in the modern era. JFK won the White House by the narrowest of margins. He struggled with policy in his first 100 days--including the Bay of Pigs debacle. Yet at the close of the first chapter of his presidency, Kennedy was able to *unite* the country like no other figure in the modern day. No Photo Brushing needed here. Click to enlarge:
