Obama: "I've heard you say this is a trillion dollar tax cut on the middle class by adjusting the cap. Understand that only 6 percent of Americans make more than $97,000 — (cheers, applause) — so 6 percent is not the middle class — it's the upper class... But understand, this is the top 6 percent, and that is not the middle class."

Drudge Report shows ZOGBY: MCCAIN MOVES INTO LEAD 48-47 IN ONE DAY POLLING
McCain has shown a strong come back in the recent polls. Still 1 in 7 voters who have decided are willing to change their minds.
Maybe it's Joe the Plumber's simple question that Barack Obama spazzed on answering. Obama said he wants to spread the wealth. Obama's campaign doesn't deny the socialist tag, instead they welcome it and say socialism isn't a bad word. Oh yes it is! This is America the last time I checked.
Obama's idea of economy is to take money away from rich people, give it to poor people, and have the poor spend this unearned money -- giving it back to businesses owned by highly taxed rich people. Then the government takes it away from the business and gives it to other poor people to spend again. WTF??!?!?

Individually, the extra-electoral efforts are irrelevant. But in the aggregate, they start to add up. In 1996 Obama goes to court, challenges the petition signatures of mostly African-American voters, and gets all his rivals eliminated from the ballot and so de facto runs unopposed.
In 2004 sealed divorce records were strangely released destroying the chances of his chief Democratic rival Blair Hull; then in the general, lightning again struck, and Republican front-runner Jack Ryan's sealed divorce records were likewise mysteriously released—and he too crashed, in effect, leaving Obama without a serious primary or general election rival.
(added link http://www.chicagomaroon.com/2006/11/14/remember-blair-hull-b... - from 2006!)
In this campaign, Acorn galvanizes to register voters and almost immediately runs into serial charges of voter registration fraud. Now an Obama ad runs asking Americans simply to take the day off to help get out the Obama vote: apparently American businesses, universities, and the government all are supposed to sacrifice hundreds of millions of dollars in lost collective work days to subsidize the Obama campaign in order "to change history"?
When one marries all that with the swarming of radio stations when someone like Stanley Kurtz goes on, the threats to go to court to stop ads, or the blacklisting of TV stations who dared to conduct tough interviews, the same old pattern reappears of by any means necessary. And in turn the explanation for all that?
The messianic style—the cosmic tug to "change history", or stop the seas from rising or the planet from heating, juxtaposed with the creepy faux-Greek columns, Michelle's "deign to enter" politics snippet, the fainting at rallies, the Victory Column mass address, the vero possumus presidential seal, and the 'we are the change we've been waiting for' mantra—reflects the omnipresent narcissism: the exalted ends of electing a prophet always justify the often crude and all too mortal means.
If this is considered 'right', I'd rather be wrong with McCain.

Democrats and Obama are to blame for financial crisis

Democrats are at the center of the financial crisis. Their insisting of giving poor people homes they couldn't afford triggered a series of events leading to the housing crisis. They know they are to blame. The media knows it. If any Republicans were to blame, the media would have their heads on spears by now.
And, not so surprisingly, ACORN and Obama are linked to this.

Editor's note: Orson Scott Card is a Democrat and a newspaper columnist, and in this opinion piece he takes on both while lamenting the current state of journalism.
An open letter to the local daily paper — almost every local daily paper in America:
I remember reading All the President's Men and thinking: That's journalism. You do what it takes to get the truth and you lay it before the public, because the public has a right to know.
This housing crisis didn't come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation of the evil Bush administration.

ACORN has made a mockery of our election process, and may have permanently damaged our democratic process. Consider these two perspectives held by people of both parties.
Jesse Jackson, who ran as a Democrat for president and shares very few values with Conservatives, said something very interesting on the Fox News Huckabee talk show. Jackson said that urban minorities, particularly those of lower socio-economic status already have doubts and suspicions about the worth of their vote. Jackson said that ACORN's actions of registering fake voters and real voters multiple times, often in exchange for money or cigarettes, cast further doubt for the process. ACORN is not trying to get the 'under represented' more representation through legal, democratic processes. Instead, they are undermining the validity of voting and focusing this mockery on inner city blacks.
Secondly, Democrats have decried the need to improve our image around the world and that George W Bush has done a horrible job of that. Nothing compares to the damage done to our nation than discrediting our form of government by ACORN registering Mickey Mouse, 7 year olds, and people to vote multiple times. People on both sides of the political spectrum have joked that the US will require foreign election inspectors.
America is the cornerstone of democracy and now we need foreigners to monitor our elections? Why? Because of ACORN's outrageous and criminal behavior to get Obama elected at the expense of our democracy. ACORN isn't concerned with democracy and does want to "change" America.
Only a McCain victory in those ACORN infested states can restore confidence in our election process and the future of our democratic government.
Strangely, Obama's supporters have made it unattractive for him to win Ohio without looking like the masked bandit behind the destruction of American democracy.

This article is from 1999 and in the New York Times -- no friend of mine.
It clearly shows that the Clinton administration pressured lenders to give loans/mortgages to people who couldn't afford them.
"Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits."
And the Conservatives warned against it!
''From the perspective of many people, including me, this is another thrift industry growing up around us,'' said Peter Wallison a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. ''If they fail, the government will have to step up and bail them out the way it stepped up and bailed out the thrift industry.''

Obama is wandering the country campaigning by himself while the rest of America is focused on Washington D.C. and how they will address the crisis.
Obama is likely avoiding the serious issue like he has avoided other serious votes. He votes "present" whenever it is a tough bill.
McCain is putting our country first and may lose the election -- which isn't putting the country first. I have mixed feelings about him pausing his campaign. I also felt squeamish when the GOP paused the convention during the hurricanes. The GOP pulled off a great convention despite the pause. I hope I am wrong and that McCain is doing the best thing for the country by pausing his campaign.

Michelle Obama delivered a brilliant speech at the Democratic Convention -- if she wants us to believe she is a mother. In doing so, Mrs. Obama set her sisters in the feminist movement back three decades by putting her motherhood first and her career, well, nowhere.
Mrs. Obama didn't mention her $273,618 salary in 2006. Nor did she emphasize her Ivy League education, where she earned not only a bachelor degree from Princeton but also a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.
Bravo, Mrs. Obama! Yes, you did "earn" it thanks to affirmative action. But that is beside the point.
And Mrs. Obama, who grew up in a poor neighborhood, has a successful brother who is coach at a Pac-10 school. Mrs. Obama's husband is on the verge of being president of the United States. He, as a black man, received 18 million votes. And Mrs. Clinton won another 18 million votes as a woman.
So, what's sooo wrong with America that Mrs. Obama said, “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.” Did she not feel proud when she two Ivy league schools accepted her? When she earned her degrees? When America gave people of color and women the right to vote? When her husband won his first election in Chicago? When Obama won the seat in the Senate? When Obama won the nomination? When Hillary received 18 million votes?
Mrs. Obama, the system works. You proved it. Why Change it? I worry your husband will break it.
