raves posted Jan 28, 2008 10:21PM GMTI don't think we know the outcome yet. Consider the very high % of people of color who voted in the South Carolina election and that they voted 80% for Obama. I still think Sen. Hillary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination.
I do think the Republicans want Obama to win because he makes an easier target in their perspective. See what others said about that here:
"Which Democrat presidential candidate is easier for the Republicans to defeat in 2008?" - http://www.sodahead.com/poll/...
You ought to post taht as a question:
"If selected as the Democratic nominee, can Obama withstand a Republican onslaught and win?" -
raves posted Jan 28, 2008 09:55PM GMT (edited)Yes it's time to get closer to Barack Obama. Go to his website and listen to why people are "fired up" and believe "yes you can." If someone says that Obama can't overcome racism....respond with two words "South Carolina"
If someone worrys about who can be effective on Healthcare , say three words "no lobby money". If someone questions judgement about the war in Iraq, say three words "never supported it". If someone asks whether Barack
Obama can withstand national scrutiny say 8 words (black ,white, hispanic,asian,young,old,poor... When Barak pointed to Reagan's ideas, he was talking about a time when the US didn't believe in itself (Vietnam, Iranian Hostages, oil crises, economy), and needed bold leadership, a beacon on the hill. When JFK was elected, he rose the spirit of American and called out "ask what you can do for your country." It's not an accident that Caroline Kennedy came out for Barack. So if someone asks what Barack Obama stands for it's "hope, good judgement, covergence based on what our common values are, and hard work is the solution." If someone asks "Can America restore: its leadership with moral integrity; strength by finding common ground amoungst nations and diverse cultures; freedom, human rights, and yes free enterprise versus being manipulated by oligarchies and faux capitalist oligopolies and cartels; balance of power in our government branches; common purpose rather than lobbyist control, and
a path out of the energy, water, and environmental quadmire that is our times?.....Say.. ";Yes we can". Now, can you get fired up over the Clinton Agenda? This is why people are turning to Barack Obama.Believe it...Yes we can!. If you can't believe it, you can't do it. -
raves Feb 02, 2008 02:59AM GMTWe aren't voting for the person who puts on the best pep rally, people! We are voting for a leader of our country.
Let's get excited about a goverment that works and a person who can make it work and not just talk about it. HILLARY CLINTON IS THE ONLY ONE.
To me Hillary is the only one left that can beat the Republicans. Any dirt they have on Hillary has long ago been laundred. We know very little of Obama. I've just become very concerned about his close ties with his cousin Odinga (the Kenyan, muslim leader). -

raves Feb 06, 2008 02:23PM GMTMitt, I like Hillary. I think her problem is that she's a strong, assertive woman and we're not used to that. In a man those qualities are good but a woman with those qualities is seen as arrogant and pushy and we call them B-tches.
