The Prince Who Would Be King

raves     by Jane Heffelfinger
In this ultimate chess tournament for the kingdom of America, the Prince who would be King must face the fact that his coronation may now be in jeopardy...

…and all because of a woman.

Isn’t it funny how irony can mock arrogance square in the face at the very moment we wish it wouldn’t.

This particular chess match, McCain vs. Obama, has played out rather predictably. We knew the Democratic leadership would rather paddle through firewater than ask Hillary to be on the ticket. We also knew Republican McCain, being the independent maverick he is, would throw a wrench in the Democratic motor.

In retrospect, it’s also true that if Prince Obama would have taken the Queen, Madame Hillary, with him on his attempted conquest he would now be preparing for his coronation.

Instead, in his mission to promote change in Washington, D.C., Obama chose a 35+ year veteran of the land of Washington, D.C., a knight named Biden. This chess move seemed somewhat confusing to many. And it did not please those soldiers of Hillary.

So, where are we now?

The Libertarian Party Vice-Presidential nominee has stated he will step aside for the betterment of the country if the very popular Ron Paul Revolution would accept the position on their ticket.

This could be another fabulous move on their part if Ron Paul accepts.

It also positions both the Republicans and the Democrats horribly since they are now fighting for those independent votes, which they both need desperately.

Now I hear a rumor about Biden stepping down “because of health concerns”, allowing for Hillary to step in. I find that rumor rather interesting. In this soap opera chess tournament this would be the only way Obama is assured the crown; however, it requires the Democratic Party leadership, Obama, Biden and Hillary’s cooperation. After watching the earlier contests I would find that move to be phenomenal.

One thing is sure, this election cycle has brought all kinds of issues to the surface: race, gender, class, disenfranchisement, equality, religion, the list goes on and on. Nothing has changed much since medieval times, except the struggle is less bloody in the kingdom of America.

My point – as long as we keep talking about these human issues and allow ourselves the opportunity to change we are one step closer to human equality.

THE QUESTION OF HILLARY CLINTON SUPPORTERS

The DNC would not trust a women to be the Nominee, they decided to not do that.
They tried to force her to quit from the beginning, back in Iowa......... They didn't trust the American People that did choose her with the popular vote and they didn't trust the Super Delegate to make the their choice, which was not trusting her to be the nominee....... they didn't allow a real vote, a real ballet vote at the convention,
FOR FEAR THE NOMINEE WOULD BE A WOMEN.
And..... they, the DNC, didn't trust her to even have her on the ballet as VP.
They didn't even pretend the woman had value, nor respect, to even consider her by having her part of the vetting process.
They have shown us all the value of a women in the Democrat Party.

WE KNOW WHAT THE DEMOCRAT PARTY THINKS OF WOMEN.

At the close of the Primaries....... neither Obama nor Clinton passed the magic line with state delegates to win....... almost.... does not count.
Super Delegates were supposed to be Independent and free to vote, they were not.
Many were strong armed, pressured, bribed and careers were put on the line.
Before the convention SDs were pledges only, not real votes.

Clinton won the Popular vote and was the choice of the people.
    She lead in Electoral votes.
She led in the Polls to beat both McCain and Obama.
McCain led to beat Obama....... as it is now.
Obama was the choice of the DNC and the media.......
Clinton was the choice of the America people..... and guess who will be voting?

Obama said in NM..... "Get over it........"
Obama said before Denver..... to the question, what are his plans for the Clinton supporters that have not yet backed him?
"Those people?......... I am not going to bother with those people"

Now...... along comes the Maverick..... and he is putting a women on the ballet...... it is the ultimate compliment........ of value and trust......... there are qualified, talented and experienced women that can be trusted to be either President or VP.
Will, American Women Notice? You bet they will......... you can count on it,
    and so will McCain.

"No self respecting woman should wish or work for the success of a
    party that ignores her"
    Susan B Anthony

I am a Democrat women, Clinton supporter voting for McCain and that decision was made long before Governor Sarah Palin.
With or without Clinton, I will never vote for Obama. I have no respect for the man and fear for our Party and Nation with him as the leader.

They didn't even honor her, respect her to do the vetting for VP.
They didn't even pretend to consider her...........
Idiots..... arrogant......ego driven...... low lifes .......

I do agree with your thoughts. It has been offensive to women, especially supporters of Hillary. However, I'm not so sure their behavior toward Hillary was simply because she was a woman. I believe their vendetta was much deeper and planned well in advance. I have always felt it was a coup d 'etat against the Clintons by Howard, Nancy, Donna, Barack and others...all others were forced to choose which camp they would follow. Much like medievil times, only not as bloody.

But they were not anticipating McCain to go so off reservation and choose a woman-and especially not that woman. Well, now they have a complete mess on their hands. She's fabulous! Goes to show you, the game isn't as easy to play as some may think.

Sorry.. I do take it as an abuse to women....... there just was too much of it.. And....... if a Party abuses one minority....... then all minorities are not safe within that party.....

Yes, I agree. Any time a subgroup is excluded I view it as an abuse of power by the larger group.
