Our most potentially dangerous border is a joke.
For quite a while we've heard politicians and pundits talk about our Southern border. A great deal has been written about the dangers of illegal Mexicans entering our country, taking crappy jobs away from Americans, bleeding our tax dollars through education, health care, etc and I happen to agree that it is a problem that needs to be dealt with.
What I do not hear about is our overly porous Northern border.
For decades Canada has had a major influx of Muslims. In 2001 there were 579,700 comprising 2% of the populations. By 2017 there are expected to be 1,421,400.
Why should they worry us?
In June 2006 ten men were accused of plotting bombings in major Canadian cities. The men were all Muslims. www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5454991 –
Last year 17 Canadian Muslims were arrested for plotting to storm Parliament Hill and behead politicians. The accused attended two training camps. One was a 12-day camp near the town of Washago, Ont., where they practised military-style exercises in camouflage gear and undertook firearms training with a 9-mm firearm. The second was a two-day camp at the Rockwood Conservation Area, where they donned camouflage clothing and made a propaganda-style video of their military drills.
According to the Crown's factum, the alleged terrorists first popped onto the radar of police in August 2005, when two of the adults were stopped at the Canada-U.S. border in a rented vehicle while attempting to smuggle firearms and ammunition into the country.
While I am not saying that all Muslims are terrorists I am saying that when we are attacked next on our soil, I would wager that it will be Muslims again.
So why is our Northern border so porous? There are numerous places where the border is only a marker in the woods or in a field.
If we are truly serious about combating terrorists, shouldn’t we be more concerned with them simply walking across the border?
The pictures below show some US/Canadian border markers.

Is there a large Muslim community in Mexico? -
raves +2 posted Aug 09, 2008 12:26PM GMTI agree with you. Least we forget, it was an alert US Boarder Guard who stopped the would-be terrorist BEFORE 9/11 at the I-5 boarder crossing in Washington State. I'm sure they've figured out they can go a couple of miles along the boarder and cross through the woods or a field. It's the same all along the US/Canadian boarder.

raves +2 posted Aug 07, 2008 05:45PM GMTYou are right Fuzzy....the Canadian border should be protected as well as the Mexican border. Both are major threats that are not being dealt with properly. We should be proactive instead of having to be reactive; deal with the problem before it arises into even more serious proportions!
