California Hatin'
Recently I have run across several people (who I thought I got along with) talking trash about CA and Californians. Today I was called overly dramatic and told that it wasn't personal, but actually, it is. When foreigners make fun of America(ns), it is personal so I don't see why it is so different. To me, (love 'em or hate 'em) my home is a part of my family and when someone unecessarily attacks, I feel the need to defend. Do that many people really HATE us?! I can get over it with strangers, but these are a just few statements (not necessarily to me, but from the past 2 days) from different SHs that I actually thought I liked.
"I wish California would just fall into the Pacific and dissapear."
"I see you're from CA..that explains it all..the land of fruits and nuts,,which are you??"
"Please. What the hell is wrong with the California judges and politicians? They will not be happy until they control every aspect of everyones life. What a bunch of nut jobs. You could not pay me to live in California. Arnold needs to make alot more commercials to get anyone to move there."
"Stupid Californians. What the hell is wrong with those people out there?"
Even someone not from CA can see this is hateful, but why is it so common and acceptable? Am I being too dramatic?
I did not name names, so if you are one of the ones who was hating, no need to comment -I already know how you feel about me.

raves +3 posted Aug 21, 2008 09:34AM GMT (edited)I don't care what people think I'm just livin' and lovin' it here. We have the best weather anywhere, the best food, the most fun, the best beaches. I can wear jeans and a t-shirt in winter and sit on the outside patio hanging out. All those complainers can stay right where they are. If you can make it in Los Angeles, you can make it anywhere. There are some days when I am driving in L.A. and I think to myself "YOU LIVE IN L.A.! The Best city ever!!"

raves +2 Aug 21, 2008 08:15PM GMTI don't mean driving in traffic. hehehe
I mean on a nice day in a nice area. Music blasting. -
raves +3 Aug 21, 2008 09:26PM GMTI know, I was kidding! Actually, I seldom drive. I live, work and go to school all within a 10 mile radius or so, so I ride my bike a lot. Not many places you can do that- all year round!

raves +3 posted Jul 29, 2008 09:35PM GMT (edited)I would not say that I hate CA. But I lived there for 30 years and one of my sisters still lives in Northern California and my other sister lives in Reno, NV. But to be honest, I left CA because a lot of people there...are just too superficial for me, not all...There are a lot of genuine, good-hearted people living there, as well. But I got tired of the phony ones and superficial ones, and I really got tired of the earthquakes. 1995 and I was out of there after that one.
But the things I miss about CA are the beaches, the drive up to Carmel, the plane ride or yacht sailing to Catalina Island and the mountains of Big Bear, the ski slopes of Mammoth and the good friends that I still have, living there, and my sisters. -
raves +2 Jul 29, 2008 09:36PM GMTJust felt a quake a couple hours ago!
-
raves +3 Jul 29, 2008 10:09PM GMTYes, that is the one thing that always made my heart skip a beat, those quakes. You never know if this one is going to be the big one. I was living in North Hollywood, when that big one hit Reseda. Sure jolted me out of bed. I heard there was a quake there, today.
Take care of yourself! -

raves +2 posted Jul 26, 2008 05:37PM GMT (edited)That is interesting that people would actually make comments like that. I live in San Diego and moved here from Iowa 17 years ago. Im not a fan of LA at all-too busy for me but California is a wonderful, diverse state with many great people. The people who make comments like those above are obviously just angry people who have nothing better to do than steriotype people. We have enough of that going on and BTW, after reading through this posts answers, what does owning a gun and using it have to do with people in a state? That needs to be taken up with the government. Thank you for taking the time to write this blog.

raves +4 posted Jul 26, 2008 03:11AM GMT (edited)I dont think your being dramatic. Mocking ones candidate is one thing. Mocking someones hometown and its residents is another. Its a personal thing. Its rude and hurtful when people continuously put down your hometown and the people who live there.

there are some peeps who are jealous
of course i say i hate the New York Yankees
it's just a warm loving nasty rivalry
certainly there are conservatives who don't like cali because the 9th circuit sits in san fran and is a more liberal group of judges than other US district courts
that's there problem - eh?

LOL
