Where did the kooky name come from?

We’re taking that one to the grave with us. Sorry.

What if I forgot my password or username?

If you’ve tried every relative’s birthday, your dog’s name backwards, your high school mascot’s name and, of course, “PASSWORD”… click on Forgot Password under the log-in and we’ll happily assist. But just this once.

What is SodaHead’s privacy policy?

If you need all the juicy legal details, or you’re just looking for some light reading material, the SodaHead Privacy Policy!

How do I change my email and password?

To change your email or password, click the down arrow next to "Account" in the top right corner and select Account Settings. Enter your new email or password in the designated boxes and click "Update" to save changes.

How do I customize my profile?

Customize your profile by clicking the 'Customize' button on your profile page. Add photos and videos, list your interests, choose a snazzy background, and customize colors. Be as unique or simple as you want, but be sure to add a new default image. You don’t want to be a gray silhouette forever.

How can I find questions?

If you know what you’re looking for, enter it in the search bar to find question on that topic. If you’re just browsing, you have several options:

■ Click "Answer" in the top right corner to get started. Browse the hottest or most recently asked questions, and filter them by category

■ Browse the homepage to find discussion on the latest news, see Real Time Opinions, answer the Big Question of the Day, and discover popular content

■ Check out the Entertainment Category, News & Politics Category, Living Categroy and Fun Categories for popular and recent questions

■ The SodaHead Originals are our best and brightest writers that post questions and slideshows on the latest topics in all of our categories

How do I ask my own question?

Asking a question is easy - just click "Ask" in the top right corner or enter your question in the "Ask Something" bar found throughout the site. Then just follow the steps on the question page:

■ Enter your question

■ Add any info you want to include

■ Select your answer choices, or leave the question open-ended

■ Add images and video to make your question stand out in the crowd

You can add media by uploading it, using the Google image/video search tool, or by entering the URL of an image/video you want to use. These options are all on the Ask a Question page.

How do I make a poll private?

Click on Advanced Options before finishing your poll. This will open up options to allow (or disallow) anonymous votes on your poll, randomize the order of the answers, choose an end date for voting, and decide whether your poll will be public (viewable by all) or personal (viewable by URL and widget).

How do I get my question featured?

Each category page has a carousel of featured content that is updated throughout the day. If you'd like to be featured here alongside the SodaHead Originals, here are some guidelines to follow:

■ Don't Copy/Paste - Articles that have been copied and pasted from another source will not be featured. If you want to talk about an article from another website or blog, include a brief summary or description in your own words and use the optional URL field to paste a link to the original source.

■ Make Your Question a Poll - Poll questions with short, straightforward answer choices are more likely to be featured. Polls have viewable results that allow for increased interactivity and engagement with other SodaHeads.

■ Catchy Content - Write concise, catchy questions with straightforward answers. Feel free to add as much personality to your post as you want, but don't let too many words detract from your message. Extremely long posts are difficult to digest, and will most likely not get featured.

■ Keep Things Respectful - We know you're an opinionated lot, and we always expect you to share your views freely. However, if your post is designed to provoke a flame war or bash a particular group, it will probably not get featured. The more journalistic and professional your post, the more likely it is to get featured.

■ Add an Image - Add an image to your post. Content with images is more likely to get featured.

■ Get the Discussion Started - After posting, share your post with as many people as possible. If our editors see lots of people discussing your content, they will more likely feature it.

Once you've created your masterpiece, you can send it to us for consideration using the contact form.

How do I get my question out to my friends?

On the final page before finishing the question, you can choose from many options to promote your new question. Import your address book to send the question to all your contacts, or choose which contacts you want to send to it to.  If you have friends in your SodaHead community, you can send it to them here as well. This is an easy way to get answers to your questions immediately and interact with people you know.

How do I find friends on SodaHead?

Besides adding SodaHeads who ask questions that interest you and share opinions you like, you can browse the site for interesting SodaHeads to meet. Use the SodaHeads tab to browse users you might be interested in. You can sort by raves, answers received, last log-in, new users, and answers given. Once you've answered some questions, the My Matches tab here will show users who have answered similarly.

How do I invite my friends who aren’t on SodaHead yet?

SodaHead is more fun with friends! Use the Invite tab to import your address book and send all or some of your friends an invite to join you and over a MILLION other users on the web’s most dynamic, fun and useful community.

How do I report abuse?

If you'd like to report abuse or any other behavior that violates the SodaHead Terms of Use, please complete the Abuse Form located at the bottom of the page. Don't forget to include a description of the problem and any additional information that will help our moderators remedy the situation.

How do I deactivate my account?

If you need to deactivate your account, contact us and select "Deactivate My Account" from the drop down menu. Please provide a brief description of why you are closing your account -- we'd hate to see you go, so if there are any issues we can resolve to keep you around please let us know.

Points and Levels

What Are Points on SodaHead?

Activity and influence on SodaHead are rewarded with points -- the more active and influential you are on the site, the more points you earn. Earning points helps you establish yourself as a leading opinion-maker and can broaden your sphere of influence by landing you on the Leaderboard. Earning points also helps you move up to the next level.

How Do I Earn Points?

To help get you started, here are some of the ways you can earn points:

■ Logging in

■ Filling out your profile

■ Voting, commenting, replying and raving on questions

■ Receiving votes, comments and raves

■ Sharing questions using the various share options

■ Joining a group

■ Connecting with your Facebook, Twitter, or Yahoo! accounts

■ Opting in to email notifications in your account settings

Every time an action earns you points, you are notified at the bottom of the page. Point notifications can be turned on or off by clicking the arrow -- you continue to earn points even when you've hidden point notifications.

Please note that you only receive point notifications for actions you take. Votes, comments and raves on your content by other users will earn you points but will not trigger a point notification.

Can I Lose Points?

Points are lost if the action that earned them is undone. For example, if you received points for leaving a comment, deleting that comment will result in the loss of those points. Points are also removed from your daily, weekly and monthly point scores once their earn date exceeds the given time period (see below for more info).

How Are Daily, Weekly and Monthly Point Scores Calculated?

Daily, weekly and monthly point scores operate on a rolling timer -- as the time or date of points earned exceeds the given time threshold, those points are removed from your point count. For example, your daily count only displays points earned in the last 24 hours -- points earned 25 hours ago or longer are not displayed in your daily point score.

How Does the Leaderboard Work?

The Leaderboard ranks users based on their activity and influence -- the top 500 point earners in a given time period are displayed. Visit the Leaderboard to see where you rank, and read up on points for ways to increase your score.

What Are Levels on SodaHead?

There are 20 levels on the site, each with a unique name that reflects the influence of users on that level. Levels correspond to points -- the more points you earn, the higher your level. Everyone starts out as a "SodaHead" and moves up from there as they accrue points. Stay tuned for upcoming rewards for earning levels!
