Letterman gave a full and complete apology last night that should meet the standards of even the most thin-skinned woman.
Now, let's focus on something really important to women, like, say, healthcare. (more) -

It's like a guy who is courting a woman and has all his friends and family and her family tell her what a wonderful husband he would make and how she should marry him, but he doesn't want to take the time to look her in the eye and tell her "this is who I am, this is what I believe, this is what I want in life, and I want to share it with you and have you as a partner by my side. Will you marry me?" Until he is willing to do that, nothing anyone else says matters.
Obama can't close the deal because he doesn't want to look into our eyes and tell us who he is and what he believes in and what he wants for us. He can tell us what he wants for himself. But he can't say what he wants FOR us is not on his agenda, what he wants FROM us is. And he knows it will show if he tries to fake it. That's why he can't close the deal.
He is expecting Hillary and Biden and all his surrogates to win our votes for him, but he must win them for himself. Surrogates can reinforce what is already there or lay the groundwork for him, but Obama must close the deal himself.
Hillary gave one of the most brilliant speeches yet. She was presidential. She was committed. And she was asking us to commit ourselves to our common goals, or what she believes is Obama's common goals with her and us. I'm not convinced that is the case yet. I believe that Hillary believes, but I don't believe Obama. (more) -

Palin is the CIC of her state's National Guard. Her state is larger than Dean's New Hampshire when he launched his bid for the presidency. He had no other military experience, and I didn't hear anyone talking about how underqualified he was.

And how many trips are required for someone to be president? How substantive must the nature be? Because, if trapsing around a war zone with a platoon escort and several gunships hovering above you while getting photo-ops with the commanders on the ground and having photo-ops with foreign leaders while you drink tea and the cameras flash makes for a substantive trip, well.... I just don't see the significance.
How many foreign trips did Huckabee make? Or Romney? Or any of the other candidates for president that didn't have Senate junkets they could use to pay for the travel? And what would make a substantive trip?
I think these kinds of criticisms are vagueries for telegraphing the fact that she isn't qualified because she is a woman. I didn't hear anyone raising these concerns with any of the other candidates for office that weren't well-traveled.
And what about obama's lack of experience militarily? Never a soldier. Never a commander. Nor was his running mate, who got deferment after deferment from Viet Nam.
One decision made in the safety of not having it appear on your voting record does not constitute evidence of a lfietime of good judgment. Not when you consider Rev. Wright , Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers, and all the "gaffes" that indicate his disdain for the working class voter (bittergate, etc.).
So, in response to your "duh," I must ask "So?"
The more hisstronic and dramatic and hyperbolic you get about Palin's inexperience and deficiencies, the more you leave the door open for the Republicans to come back at you with somparisons to Obama's inexperience and deficiencies, which are greater. (more) -

The evidence is pretty clear. The comparison is between male cndidates with similar resumes and how they were treated as opposed to female candidates with similar resumes. What is, is. Dean was less qualified to run for the presidency than was Palin. Same for Obama. If you based it on experience, which Obama is loathe to do, since he has none. (more)

It presents at the very least an appearance of impropriety.
And people who have written books about their idol would have a hard time being truly objective -- even if it is not conscious.
The media is already in the tank for Obama. It would help if PBS tried to appear objective. (more) -

Although the Republicans don't have much of a inroad to the black voting block, they live in hope that all blacks will be "saved" by the conservative spirit and come flocking to them for some reason. They must appear to no be prejudiced. (more)
