Thanks for the add, Marberico! I love World Literature, but, unlike you, I am monolingual and thus restricted to translations. I want to change that, so I am learning to read/speak Spanish. It is a language widely spoken where I live (Colorado), and a language in which literature and poetry still live and breath freely. Wish me luck!

No problem. What you posted made sense, the whole daughter being what she couldn't or whatever just seemed logical to me =]

Yes, bilingualism does interest me. I guess I never really gave it much thought because I don't know anyone who is bilingual. I wouldn't know that I would make use of the second language or stay fluent if I were to learn one. How do you maintain a language if you have nobody to speak with using that language?

I must go down to the sea again the lonely sea and sky, I left my shoes and socks there, I wonder if they dry. - Spike Milligan.
Now Canadian French would make the most sense I suppose, but Spanish does interest me a little more. Which of the two would you recommend? Or would you chose something else?
