I would like to go to a Mania and came really close to hitting the one in Chicago years back. Problem is that right now I really don't like Cena and every year he's in the main event or winning a title. When his career cools off I'll be more likely to go, or if they come to St Louis or go to Dallas.

A few times, transitional times. I started watching as a little kid with Hulk Hogan. When I reached a certain age he got boring and wrestling was a little passe so I didn't follow it. About the time of Mania 8-10. Then I started to pick back up with Hart and Michaels. Their Mania 12 Iron Man match is top five all time. So I followed from then to the advent of the Attitude era - Austin/Rock. Another match to watch would be Hart versus Austin at Mania 13. Best match ever. I followed it then until I reached a certain point in college. That and a girlfriend took a lot of time. And I was really disappointed with how they handled the purchase of WCW, integrating wrestlers and unifying titles. That was about Mania 17-19. Picked back up with Mania 20 and haven't stopped since.

The existence of two top titles devalues both, and devalues the lesser titles. Back in the day it worked like this - if you were the most popular guy or almost the most popular guy then you would be awarded the World Title. Even though wrestling isn't real it was still a real achievement because you had to put on a good show in the ring and get over with fans (either be really loved or really hated). Plenty of very deserving guys didn't get time with the belt - Roddy Piper, Ted Dibiase, Mr. Percect. Reigns were long and you only had a handful. For the longest time Hogan had the record for five.

Two words, Vince McMahon. From what I hear he keeps flaking out on it. They unified the Tag Titles and then the Womens Titles. Mania was the rumor for the top titles, but Vince can't book consistently anymore. He books way too fast and with way too many changes. I've heard they even have a new strap made and in hand and have since January. But Vince always changes his mind. I think they'll realize that its time for the business to change again, and it would be good to have one top title with that star appearing on both shows. But it will take them time.

My first PPV was the first ever HIAC between HBK and Taker with the introduction of Kane. Since then I've been to a number of PPVs and Raws. I'm less interested in hitting up SDs but I've been to at least one of those as well.
But over the past decade we've seen an increase in short reigns were todays top guys get a ton of titles. Complicating that is the two World Title situation in which they don't have enough top stars to really sustain both titles. While Roddy Piper and Ted Dibiase never had a belt guys like Great Khali, Swagger and Sheamus have all had reigns. Not saying Swagger and Sheamus aren't getting to the spot where they deserve one, but they didn't when they got it. Point is WWE hands out Titles like candy now. It no longer has any meaning. Its a prop and not a legit achievement - even if its a backstage achievement.

That trickles down to the US and IC - both great historic belts they helped launch a ton of names. Now they're barely props, barely cared about, barely part of the story. They are just there. Once upon a time the IC was just a half step below the World Title - Warrior held it as he took the WWF Title off Hogan. Same with the US - Goldberg held it when he took the WCW Title off Hogan. Now big guys aren't getting built off those belts.
