Yay! The Jonas Brothers banishing is complete -
& it's a wrap! :) I just checked and I think the death blow was dealt by Ozzie and Kermit! Which is strangely appropos... XD
Someone there PLEASE tell Ville to stop lying to himself about his lyrical abilities - he is so a poet! Just because he struggles to perfect the lyrics and is sometimes slow to finish them does not make him any less poetic. So he took 5 years to finish Cyanide Sun - so what? It was worth the wait - it's gorgeous.
I'm a fairly new fan - just discovered HIM this year via Ville's duet with Natalie Avalon of the Lee Hazlewood's "Summer Wine". I'm pretty picky though as I used to be in a band and have listened to music since I was pretty much a baby. My earliest memory is of music playing as my parent's partied. :)
So I simply have to say there isn't a bad song on the new album at all. I was initially quite taken with the title track. And then slowly the whole album grew on me, kind of like some sort of intoxicating moss. :-) Some tracks are more accessible than others. But there's enough going on in all the tunes to keep a (very rusty) musician and a radio producer (me) happily listening to it repeatedly. :) The whole album is like some sort of aural milles feuilles - rich and with lots of layers and delicious. You have to take time to savour it as there is so much going on. I have been listening to some of the band's older material via Youtube and a few other places and this album is more complex, at least in terms of production. Currently I am most enamoured with 'Love in Cold Blood' and 'Cyanide Sun' - though this last funeral waltz really makes me want to give Ville a big comforting hug and cocoa as I can feel the pain running through it sharp as glass. :-( I'm tempted to say...

So here's my roccoco proclamation: Venus Doom is a lovely doomy gloomy do-me sonic tour de force. C'est *si* bon bon bon, mes chers, like water for chocolate(you know - boiling hot?) , and pretty much as good as sex.
Rock on guys and thanks for the new accessible forum and the heads up via Myspace bulletin!
Here - this is just so damned cool! It uses a brand new animation
