About Me

I'm a transplanted yankee who loves the Mississippi Gulf Coast! (Yes, I traded all that snow for the inevitable possibility of hurricanes!!! Yikes!) Born on the 4th of July!

Princess Diana, were she still with us.

Gardening, reading, yoga, eating out!

Interior design, writing, self employment, travel (love it!) landscaping, history, politics, real estate

I'm very "varied" in my likes of music. But please, don't play me any bluegrass.

In the "old" days, Miami Vice and Lovejoy. For comedy, I like "The Nanny", or reruns thereof. In general, mysteries, dramas, and romantic comedy.

"Shadowlands", "While You Were Sleeping", "Tin Cup", "Happy Gilmore", and many more.

"For Those I Loved" by Martin Gray.

"It's better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all."

How do you measure a hero? There are visible heros, and invisible heros.

I had that happen to me when I was 15 (no, I did not tell my father to stay out of my room, I would not have dared). But what I did do was call the police because of his abuse, and they hauled me off to juvenile detention center, bruises and all. (more)

This person, and 58 million other people, are being assaulted financially by the various card companies, including Citibank. The credit card companies, also known as some of the big (cannot fail) banks that we the taxpayers bailed out, have levied new yearly fees on cards, jacked up rates to the highest legal level possible before the new laws kick in in February at a whopping 29.99%, and that's not all. These people were not in default either. Their rates went from 7.99 to 12.99 to 29.99% Outrageous!!!! Their payment histories are being delayed in order that the card companies can show them deliquent on their credit reports in order to "legally" increase their rates, and on top of this, many have reduced the credit lines on cards without the card holders' notice until it was too late.

This is legally robbery, and by God, something has to be done about it. It is ruining people's lives. With their credit limits being reduced, on credit reports it then shows a higher credit to usage ratio, which then drops their credit scores tremendously.

SO TELL ME THEN, HOW IN THE WORLD ARE THESE 58 MILLION PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO BUY NEW CARS OR NEW HOMES?

My God, I now think about it just about everyday, as I watch my adult children deal with their problems, and I see my face change every time that I look in the mirror. I thank God that I started young with my kids...I still have the stamina to maintain.

I have to say this though, and it may very well sound strange, but I'm sure that there are some women out there that may be able to relate to this...

When you are an attractive woman, and you quickly start seeing your attractiveness fade, life becomes quite hard.

If you were never "so called" attractive to start with, you don't have that to lose. The women who weren't to start with, dealt with that in the beginning. The women who were attractive, deal with it later. And it actually comes harder for them.

And don't think that life was easy along the way...it wasn't. Too many sicko guys trying to get their way. Too many men thinking that you were just "fodder".

Sorry, apparently, I did get off of the subject. But I think that there are women out there that can relate to what I just said.

Too bad that so much of life is about what men think of women. I wonder how it would work the other way around.

However, I believe that if women are getting pregnant, over and over again, with the expectation that the government is going to foot the bill...this I very, very much oppose.

I lived in the "fine state of Wyoming" for three years...on an Indian reservation, no less. Half the state is composed of Indians...if you can show that you have 1/3 Indian blood running through your veins, you qualify for government assistance. And this senator says that 65% of his e-mails from his constituents argue against a public option? I wonder why. Half of them already have the "public option" in the form of Medicaid.

He mentions what shortens the lives of most Americans...smoking, inactivity, etc.; but what he does not mention is what is going on in "his fine state". Alcoholism...in a big, big way. So big, in fact, that the insurance companies won't insure a good portion of the drivers in that state!
