    +2 raves People have already mentioned the usual clubs and bars etc. Chicago should never be thought of as... People have already mentioned the usual clubs and bars etc. Chicago should never be thought of as a boring place. My suggestion is to find an organization that shares your views. Volunteer for it. There is a need for volunteerism. Food pantries, hospice, literacy programs, homeless shelters etc. all need help. You never have to feel bored and you will always feel that someone needs you. I've seen volunteerism turn into real careers at times.
    Plus, chances are that the people you meet are the ones you would trust to watch your back.
