The duty to teach and correct in the same forum is to avoid the scandale that occurs when a double standard is perceived by the faithful or when public figures purposefully blur the teaching os the church.

People like Kennedy who leverage membership in a church for votes will hopefully be given no chance to do this in the future. The Kennedys have been claiming Catholic status for years while acting and certainly voting anything but Catholic.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Come back when you actually believe what the church teaches.
