He knew going in there that what he was doing was wrong, he was desperate but obviously had no intention of shooting her to begin with. When she broke down, he did too. Women crying is a very hard thing to see and you have to be one cold bastard to not be affected. And he still stole money and her phone. It would have been more impressive if he'd have just turned himself in or walked out with nothing (before his mother saw his picture on the news, that is). (more)

The economy cycles; always has, always will. This time there just happened to be a whole slew of things that went wrong at the same time and caused more of a problem than normal. (more)

As part of our survival mechanism, we automatically categorize everyone we encounter by gender, by size, etc. Our brains have done this for a few billion years and it won't stop any time soon. Also, anyone who works in sales has to further categorize people. Pre-judging people and putting them into categories is perfectly normal and natural - what we DO with that information and how we act on it; that's what makes it right or wrong. (more)

I respect the police and the way they lay their lives on the line to protect us, but due to this awesome responsibility, they also need to be held to the highest moral code and should be punished to the extreme when they blatantly break that code. Madonna's career has spanned my entire secular life (from the time I actually started listening to "worldly" music instead of just Christian music) and ever single album reminds me of a part of my life that has passed. Since I've been sick for the last few days and feeling melancholy, these two songs that remind me of my boyfriend that I buried a long time ago were the first to pop into my mind. RIP my wonderful friend - and thanks for the lifetime of memories Madonna.
